I always LOVE seeing inside's peoples homes and how they organize stuff. It's always fun and gives me ideas and gives me a sense of who a person is.
Wanna come for a tour of my art cabinet??
Have I mentioned how GLAD I am that we switched houses on the compound!!
*New readers...yes I live on a compound and yes that sounds weird...but it ain't like that.*
Now that I've cleared that up...again I'm soooooooo glad we switched houses. I have so much more room AND I have this cabinet shown above for fabulous fun art storage.
Cute kids art stuff/educational thingies, that I had been collecting since before I was even married (for real) was housed in this rubbermaid.

And needless to say...what you don't see, you don't use.
On Monday I had the day off and I just decided I NEEDED to get my craft cabinet under control.
Might I mention my DREAM art area??? Since I have a feeling I probably won't ever have my own studio/art room, and really I enjoy sharing (for now) my art space with cute kid (and that may have to do with the circumstance that makes me have to enjoy it) I DREAM of an oversized -- as in HUGE -- bookshelf with doors so that I can have ALL of our art supplies and even office supplies tucked away in my beautiful closed off GINORMOUS shelf!
Doesn't that sound FABULOUS!?
Anyway, I emptied out the bin and found some real goodies inside. I knew if I could have easy access to them, then at a moments notice, cute kid and I can be inspired to do some art or learning activities.
This area is mostly cute kids stuff. Well most of the cabinet is cute kids stuff. I'm still collecting my own supplies.

And here's my side. Not much there. I can't wait to go out because I have a huge list of art supplies to get.

Some of those are still for cute kid. Like the container of buttons my Mom sent. I always LOVED dumping out her big bucket of buttons and looking through them, matching them up, putting them in color piles. Cute kid is a bit young still but maybe in a few months when he's not teething so bad and feeling the need to chew on everything!
I gathered up all of his broken crayons, put them aside and added some fresh "new" crayons that I had left over from my Teaching Assistant days. The broken ones are being gathered up to melt and mold into new ones later on. I like this blue bucket for his crayons because it's easy to carry and easy to have access to all the crayons without dumping them all over the place. And it was FREE. Part of a little package he got as a baby gift.

Of course his crayon rocks have a special place in the canvas bag they came in. He's really starting to loves these even more as he gets better at coloring.

Of course we needs paints, play dough and canvas ready to go. And one of cute kids art projects on display...fun handprints. Loves it I do! Also gives even more color and just seems to work nicely in there. OH and sparkles...I mean...obviously.

Freshly sharpened colored pencils and of course one freshly sharpened monkey pencil. Gotsta have the monkey pencil!

Shoot-should have turned the darn monkey around...now that would have made sense. Bad photography moment.
I was surprised to find a bunch of different papers and coloring books for him to color. And even more surprised to find lots of fun foamy letter puzzles for him. He LOVES them. So I stacked all of those together again, easy to grab especially on those sleepy mornings when I'm trying to wake up. Bucket, coloring book...DONE!

I also found all of these bad boys! All from the Dollarama.......wait...Dollarama Plus (such a rip!).
Styrofoam balls, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, stickers etc... We've already done a project with the foam balls!

And here's his "learning" center. His flash cards that I made as well as some that I bought. His block letters, and his foamy letters.

Oh and I found cars, trains, and trucks - matching cards!!!! He LOVES to just look at them, line them up, find the ones that match, ones that are the same color. And he can't stop saying... "Ooooh a CAR, a TWAIN, a BUS, a TUCK!!!" I love it!

And lastly storage on top. Generally I don't dig the storage on top of things but I'm limited in space and I'd prefer to have this stuff at my disposal rather then tucked away hidden. Up there is some canvas (need LOTS more for my new painting cravings), my sewing machine in it's carrying case - both my Mama sent me, my beads that my friend Annie Y gave me WAY back in the day, and some extra paper for cute kids easel and drawing needs.

Oh and my watering bucket that Kellie brought me from IKEA that I sooo love the color, and shape of that I have to have it out! I know you can get these now at the dollar store but this was BEFORE that and it's from IKEA and yes that makes mine better. amen. Hee hee!

So there you have it! A peek inside my world and I really really love this part of our home. Makes me want to do more and create more.
So share your favorite corners with me.
What's your nook? Do you have a favorite shelf? How about a drawer? Or a fun cupboard? I used to be really fond of my baking cupboard but in this house it's not as good...but it's okay..I'll trade the baking cupboard for the art cabinet!
Oh and if you're wondering what's in the bottom of this cabinet? Toys! Yep that's one of the places I tuck away toys at night.
So share share! Go pick out your favorite place in your home...if it's not yet organized...do it! Photograph it, post it and link back to here. I can't WAIT to see and hear.
Does wanting to see inside others homes...make me strange?
Because I've been warning you that isolation is turning me strange.

That looks awesome! it IS awesome! Now you have me wanting to find a really great hutch at the thrift store. I have one in my dining room, but it is full of dishes and the bottom part stores board games.
Love the hutch!!!
I have a spare room used for food storage, office supplies, crafts/scrapbooking and miscellaneous stuff. Just use those shelving units. I will take a picture this weekend and post it. :) Most of my stuff is in small organizers made out of fabric, I got from Dollarama (ya now the rip off store...LOL.
Love seeing a bit of your home. I wanna come and color and oh paint, oh how I love to paint. :)
I have my little pink library desk in the corner of my bedroom....I posted about it awhile back. Sadly, I haven't gotten around to fixing it up like I see it in my head. I gotta get on that....
I love seeing how other people have things organized...you're not alone! Love the cabinet, how fun for you guys to have it out ready to go. I hate getting everything out and it's probably because it's so difficult to get it!
Go Kristi! You have so much fun stuff! Great job organizing it!!!
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE to have my stuff out, but away at the same time! You did a great job with yours.
I love seeing the insides of other people's homes. You're not strange.
Now since I've organized it...it makes me want more...just not sure where I'd put more!

Wow! You have lots of neat stuff to play with. If I had a blog I would be tempted to try my own hand at taking those kinds of pictures. They are so bright and colourful.
Great cupboard!!! I'll have to find a space to share!!
oh i *love* seeing the inside of people's homes as well! it's inspiring! hmmmm...now i have to think about what i want to share! it's weird...the very first photo that you posted refuses to open for me. i've checked like a zillion times hoping it would and it just won't! grrr!
It's okay friend...the first photo is the same as the last photo.
I posted that pancake recipe on my blog comments. You'll have to let me know if you like it!
About your watering can: You're totally entitled to love it - did you know it is (or at least was, in 2005) on display at the Metropolitan museum of art in NY? It's awesome, I need to get one.
Love your storage solutions! I'm hoping between your ideas and Tanya's ideas, I'll have a great work area for myself. I'm already working on the design. There is nothing strange about you at all. You're original, creative, funny and inspirational I love seeing other peoples' imagination at work.
